Middletown Lions Club

We Serve - Louisville, Ky.

It’s What we do MLC-Crosby Middle School – It takes a village

November 18, 2025 By Marty Mills

From Lion Alicia Chandler,

Thank you Middletown Lions Club so much! Surprisingly, there are 14 families at Crosby that are homeless and the other 36 families have reached out to Carla (Family Resource Youth Services Coordinator at Crosby) for assistance or been connected with her from other ministry groups. We are going to go and buy the actual turkeys to have them available for the families because some don’t have transport to go to get them.
☆How the turkey request came about:
On Thursday, Carla called Kit Federal Credit Union where I’m working and asked if it was okay of one of their families came by and got food from us out of our Blessings Pantry. I stopped in Crosby to let her know that if the family could come while we are open, we could let them take anything they need from our overstock stash too. She said the student came to her that morning and said that she was starving because opened her pantry and fridge at home and there wasn’t a single thing. She said she was going to see if her mom would try to take her by Kit in the next couple of days. I went to Kit and got 2 bags full of food and took them back to Crosby to send home with her that day (Thursday of last week) and I asked Carla if she had anything else like that l, that she needed help with. She kind of gave a hopeless laugh and said “Yes, if some miraculous way you could help, I need 40 turkeys by next Friday.” I told her I’d be glad to see what I could do and somehow we would get it done. (Carla stepped into this role 7 weeks ago so there wasn’t much time for her to prepare for this.) I posted on Facebook and collected some money from friends and Kit donated money. I just told Carla that the Lions Club was picking up the remaining $555 out of the $800 that I hadn’t collected yet, and she is completely blown away and so relieved! Thank goodness she mentioned it to me last week and thank goodness that I am a part of an amazing organization, such as the Middletown Lions Club!
Thank you all so much! We have so much to be thankful and grateful for, that we may take for granted sometimes….but one thing I am thankful for, is each and every single one of our members!

Middletown Lions Club 1st Baptist Health Fair

By Lion Lynn Harrelson, This past Saturday, members of Middletown Lions Club participated in the First Baptist Health Fair. As many are aware, the Lions throughout the world have been known as knights for the blind since compelled by Helen Keller to fight blindness. Over the years, we have integrated other initiatives in our areas […]
