July 14, 2015 By Marty Mills

On June 22, 2015 The Middletown Lions Club hosted their 37th Annual golf scramble at Weissinger Hills Golf Course in Shelbyville, Ky. I want to first THANK Bryan and Wayne who really took care of us!

With the weather cooperating this year (though a little steamy) we had 13 teams with 2 flights. The fun begins and $25 gift certificates were up for grabs: Closest to #4 hole (Weissinger Pro Shop)- Richmond Knopp; Closest to #7 hole (Weissinger Pro Shop)- Paul Calvert; Closest to #14 hole (Weissinger Pro Shop)- John Hudson; Woman’s Longest Drive #15 (Rumors + Jimmy Johns)- Taylor Hodge; Men’s Longest Drive #15 (Evergreen Liquors)- Jon Raley; Closest to the #16 (Weissinger Pro Shop)- Mike Kennedy; Longest putt #18 (Scotty’s Ribs and More)- Bill Barron.
When it was all over the winners were: 1st Flight: 1st place(4 some at Nevel Meade)-The Mallory Team, 2nd place (4 Some at Midland Trail)- The Home Schoolers, 3rd place (4-$25 Gift Certificates at Weissinger Pro Shop)-Erlanger 8 Under, 4th place (4 $20 Gift Certificates- Rumors, Jucy’s BBQ, Mark’s)- Wood Butchers. 2nd Flight: 1st Place (4 some at Weissinger Hills)- Professional Bar Service, 2nd place (4 Some at Midland Trail)- Broken Glass, 3rd place (4-$25 Gift Certificates at Weissinger Pro Shop)- The Teachers, 4th place (4 $20 Gift Certificates to Beef O’ Brady’s)- Bank Shots.
As Lion Chairperson I want to thank all the Lions, Leo’s, sponsors, and participants for a great fund raiser that benefits local and Lion charities. I enjoy doing this every year!! Please consider coming out and playing next year!! Your generosity doesn’t go unnoticed. In Service – Lion Alyson Stamper.
