MLC 35th Annual Golf Scramble

July 25, 2013 By Marty Mills

On June 17th, 2013 The Middletown Lions Club hosted their 35th annual golf scramble at Weissinger Hills Golf Course in Shelbyville, KY. Even with a little hitch in the weather it was a great day for twenty teams to play in our scramble.
Serving a box lunch before the shotgun start we also had a putting contest (goodie bags for 1st -3rd from CafePress www.cafepress.com ) won by Ron Thurman, 2nd place Perry Hadley, 3rd place Troy Johnson. We were able to start early as all the teams arrived and were ready to go. Then the fun began and the $25 (gift certificates) were up for grabs:
Closest to the #4 hole Lee Hurst (Havanna Rumba); Closest to the #7 hole Greg Witte (Gelateo Gilberto); Closest to the #14 hole Mike Music (Dairy Queen); Woman’s Longest Drive #15 Brett Bryan (Weissinger Pro Shop); Men’s Longest Drive #15 Jason LeBoeuf (Weissinger Pro Shop); Closest to the #16 hole Jen Chapman (Weissinger Pro Shop); Longest putt #18 Sam Hadley (Weissinger Pro Shop).
When it was all over (including some computerized wizardry):
1st Flight 1st place Dauenhauer Plumbing (4 some at Nevel Mead), 2nd place CafePress (4-$25 Gift Certificates at Weissinger Pro Shop), 3rd place Crider’s Strikers (4- $20 Gift Certificates to Beef O’ Brady’s); 2nd Flight 1st Place Master’s Plumbing (4 some at Midland Trail), 2nd place Grip It Rip It (4-$25 Gift Certificates at Weissinger Pro Shop), 3rd place Gogan’s Gang (4- $20 Gift certificates Home Run Burgers); 3rd Flight 1st Place WVU plus 2 (4 some at Weissinger Hills), 2nd place Dental Build (4-$25 Gift Certificates at Weissinger Pro Shop), 3rd place St. Mary’s (4-$20 Gift Certificates Simply Thai & Jucy’s).
Lion Chairperson Alyson Stamper wants to thank all the Lions, Leo’s, sponsors, and participants for a great fund raiser that benefits local and Lion charities.
